CPA response to mobile testing for coronavirus

28 April 2020

The CPA welcomes the announcement that there will be a further increase in capacity, offering tests to essential workers by offering increased mobile testing. This will run alongside the static testing sites.

There have been concerns over the limited availability of tests and for the static testing issues with locations also being unhelpful to workers who need to drive over an hour to obtain a test. We are assured that over the next 48 hours the testing available will significantly ramp up and we will see people who need a test gaining access to one.

We genuinely hope this is the case as we see testing for social care staff, and people who access support and care, as a priority to be able to deal with infection outbreaks and control. We are also keen to ensure that care staff are prioritised if they require a test and seek assurances on the validity of the tests themselves.
