Insurance market for care providers is shrinking
19 August 2020
"Since the beginning of the pandemic the Care Provider Alliance (CPA) have been working with providers to understand the complexity of the insurance market, the technicalities of the renewal process and to identify gaps in coverage in relation to COVID-19. Our findings have revealed that the insurance market is indeed shrinking and insurers are seeking to limit their liability. There has also been evidence of significant increases in costs of insurance premiums and exclusions in cover, creating further challenges to providers."
"As a result of these complexities further analysis and a more detailed assessment is being carried out to determine the potential impact on providers. We continue to work with senior officials at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to collect evidence around these issues in order for a suitable solution to be put in place."
Kathy Roberts, Incoming Chair of the Care Provider Alliance
